Jack Vettriano

The art world is currently very excited by Jack Vettriano prints and mainstream art followers with in Europe and North America have become very excited by the talented Scottish painter who himself was entirely self-taught and only started to experiment with painting after receiving a painting set as a gift. There have been a large number of impressive works from Vettriano up to now and the content and style which he uses is very consistent ever since his early days as a up and coming painter when he was just starting to realise the potential which he had.

In most cases artist Vettriano uses classical scenes with in his work and he would set them up himself with hired models before taking photographs so that he could work alone with in his studio and use the photos as the basis for each of his paintings. Over time Vettriano has built up a list of favoured models and many of them have become known within the art world after his paintings have received more and more research. There are few British painters to have gained as much appreciation for their work during their own lifetime as Vettriano as sadly more impressive artists are only appreciated some years after they have passed away.

The Singing Butler is without doubt the best painting that Vettriano has come up with so far, at least if you consider popularity to equal quality. The Singing Butler captures a romantic mood which can be seen in many of his works and including classical dancing upon a beach which is an unusual scene but one that works perfectly for the artist. Vettriano would have spent considerable amounts of time planning this scene before his photography shoot and there were probably many photographs taken from different angles at that time in case he wasn’t sure quite what angle the finished painting would be from. In most cases, until the artist has had the photographs taken and reviewed, he won’t know which will work best.

The current list of Vettriano paintings is extending further and further, as is the advantage of following a skilled artist who is still very much alive and indeed in his prime. One interesting element of this artist is how his works complement each other so well with a consistency not only in style but also content and this is highly unusual when you compare his career to the likes of Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso and Wassily Kandinsky. It may be quite possible that as he matures further styles and varying content are used but it is probably fair to say that actually most of his fans would be happy to see more of the same.

Conclusively, Jack Vettriano prints and paintings are amongst the most popular of any current living artist and his reputation is surely likely to continue to rise as he expands on his achievements and also matures as an artist. It seems at the moment that despite academic reluctance to approve his work there is an overwhelming support from the public which in the 21st century is proving a far more powerful tool which continues to drive his career onwards and upwards.
